Gender-based violence (GBV) is a global epidemic. It crosses every social and economic class, ethnicity, race, religion, and education level, and transcends international borders. Together we can work to address the causes and find solutions.
#16days is an initiative to raise awareness and encourage positive action around ending gender-based violence. The United Nations (UN) global #16days campaign kicks off November 25th and runs until December 10th.
Over the coming weeks, there are many ways YALI Network members can show support for #16days, here’s how to get involved:
1. Pledge to raise awareness about gender-based violence and support #16days. Once you pledge you will receive a personalized graphic to share.
2. Watch Ending Violence against Women and Girls lesson from the YALI Network Online Course, Understanding the Rights of Women and Girls. You can also earn a certificate by completing the full course here.
3. Host a #YALILearns event during the UN’s #16days [November 25 - December 10] using the Ending Violence against Women and Girls to raise awareness within your community. Plan your event using our facilitation guide and check out the YALI Network Blog for additional resources on hosting events. Then report back to us for a chance to receive a special reward, check back on November 25th for details on how to report.
4. Tell us about your event for a chance to receive a special reward or a chance to be featured on our blog. Get started by using the event report button below.
5. Promote: Share the #16days announcement Facebook post and tweet using the buttons below and share your personalized pledge graphic on social media using the hashtag #16days. Encourage your friends, family and networks to join and share as well!
